Trans athletes see the Tokyo Games as a watershed moment (Axios)

These Olympics have been plagued with more negative headlines than usual. But there have been some bright, hopeful spots.

Tom Daley knitting on the sideline between his swimming events (and the charming cozy he made for his gold medal). Mutaz Essa Barshim And Gianmarco Tamberi sharing the gold medal for high jump. Simone Biles prioritizing her safety and health and withdrawing from the team and all-around competition, and returning to win the bronze medal on the balance beam.

And most importantly, the participation of openly trans and nonbinary athletes in these games - and the words they share.
