States eye allowing concealed carry of guns without a permit (Associated Press)

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.”

This is the Second Amendment in the Constitution. It was ratified in 1791 as a part of the Bill of Rights. The justification of this amendment was to prevent the new nation from needing a standing army.

In 1791, slavery was legal and our economy was partly built upon it. White women could not vote or own property. We only had 13 states in the union.

You might disagree with me, but I believe the Second Amendment is due for a revision. I’m of the opinion that relaxing firearm safety measures - like obtaining a concealed carry permit - is a danger to public safety.
