Even though this is still in the proposal stage (and has yet to be voted on), it’s a proposal I would get behind if I lived in Austin.
Most policies focused on homelessness targets the symptoms, not the cause. By offering secure housing and services to people that are homeless, you would hope to see more people obtaining jobs and moving into their own homes, and begin to reduce the homelessness rate.
If this is signed into law, I’m cautiously optimistic of its results.
