How Taco Bell Turned Its Back on Indian Americans (Grub Street)

I admit that I felt personally victimized by Taco Bell’s menu changes - the tostada, Mexican Pizza, and cheesy fiesta potatoes being the ones I was most heartbroken about.

It turns out I’m not alone.

I have such strong memories of visiting the Taco Bell on City Line Avenue in Philadelphia after dance class, nibbling on a tostada (no lettuce, 2 packets of hot sauce) and a pintos and cheese with a side of chips to dip into it.

The tostada is my mother’s favorite. The Mexican Pizza is my and my husband’s. And while I can still get my beloved crunchy taco supremes (beans instead of meat) and bean & cheese burritos, I can’t help but be really sad about something as small as a fast food menu change.
