On food waste, what it's like being in a COVID vaccine trial, and Hallmark Christmas movies
We all have a part to play in the war against food waste (Al Jazeera)
33% of food produced for our consumption is lost or wasted, in the supply chain from farms to households.
ONE THIRD. OF ALL FOOD.
Highly recommend reading this article, and taking any action you possibly can. Mine are:
scour your fridge and cook up all your about-to-spoil foods into soups or stews, and freeze them for future meals.
donating to World Central Kitchen (I donated in honor of my friend Opal, who’s volunteered with them all year)
purchase your produce through Misfits Market (which purchases food not purchased by grocery stores because of appearance). You can also choose to donate your box to a family in need if you don’t need a delivery.
Use Too Good To Go to purchase excess food from nearby restaurants & grocery stores (and for a great discount!)
