FDA pushes back on Trump administration attempt to rebrand ‘emergency authorization’ (Politico)

Would you get the COVID vaccine that was approved first?

I’m a yes - AS LONG AS it obtained traditional approval from the FDA, and was not approved under ‘emergency use authorization.’

Everyone is now aware of EUA thanks to the pandemic and the controversial therapeutics that obtained EUA during COVID.

The politicization of this process - something that should firmly be in the hands of scientists, and not the White House - is tragic to me, and poises to only increase vaccine hesitancy in this country.

‘Pre-licensure’ is the latest battle being waged between the FDA and the White House - and my money is sadly on the White House to win.

It might be a win for Trump, but it’ll be a major loss to science and to the residents of this country.
