On 9/11, space, and the women you need to know about
On Saturday, we honored the lives lost because of 9/11 and the families who continue to mourn.
But I also mourned for another group. For Muslims in America, and the incredible pain and violation of their civil rights many experienced simply because they practiced their faith and are who they are.
“For Yassir Fazaga, a religious leader and psychotherapist who is the named plaintiff in the case, that is the legacy of 9/11 twenty years later. American Muslims didn't have time to grieve an attack on their country, he said, because they were made into the imagined enemy of the state.”
I mourn for the burden they have had to bear for the past 20 years.
