The last name issue always males me think. In Spain, where I’m from, women do not change their last name at all (not taking their husband’s nor hyphenating). Kids will then have two last names: first that of the father and then that of the mother (I think the order can be chosen, but traditionally the male’s came first). Basically everyone goes around with two last names in their ID. It’s great because you carry your background with you. Also, as a kid I remember we used to say our last names and just keep going. Basically your name/last name is though to be as long as you can remember; it is a nice way to honor and remember those that came first and their intertwined stories.

I love this so much! We gave the boys Palepu as their middle name, as I didn't change my name either. This is so great!
