I love this reminder about libraries — thank you for including it. The tip about using a library card for streaming platforms is such a gem, and I hadn’t realized Library Extension shows hold numbers too. It’s such a generous way of framing access and affordability, and one of the reasons I always look forward to your newsletter.

This is such a generous comment, Alison. Thank you, and I’m glad to be using my library’s services more and making it a joyful ritual for our family.

Thank you for mentioning hypomania and bipolar disorder! I have that as well and I just really appreciate it when people talk about it. Makes me feel less marginalized and alone.

Only do this if it brings you joy --

I want to know how to celebrate Diwali! Would you write up the things that you do?

Yes! This is the first year that my mom’s not in town, so I’ve been planning a fun day for my family. Will share soon!

I’m finding that being in person with like-minded people feels so good. Serving on a board of a local writers center, brunch with girlfriends, meeting the other parents at my youngest children’s school for neuro divergent kids. I’m going to try your tactic of breathwork while doing legs up the wall.

I love these. I admittedly tend to withdraw when I’m feeling anxious or numb, and this was a good reminder to send a text to catch up with a friend vs trying to make some big plan. Let me know how the breathwork practice works for you!
