Ice Planet Barbarians got me through the holiday season and the Omicron surge in January. A Court Of Thorns And Roses (and the subsequent series Crescent City) got me through 7 weeks of speaking gigs and work travel. I still have so much love for my warmongering faeries and sexy blue aliens (and implore you to read them, if you haven’t yet). But they’ve taken a back seat to Formula 1 right now.
Hello Hitha! I really felt that I needed to comment on the story, “Playing a scrub nurse on Grey’s Anatomy made BokHee Instagram Royalty.” As a real-life scrub RN I must admit that I don’t watch “Grey’s Anatomy” and am not familiar with the characters or story. While I am sure BokHee is a wonderful person and character, from what I am able to gather from the article she is NOT a scrub nurse, but rather a surgical technician or ST. In the state of California, where both BokHee and myself work and reside, the title of “nurse” is legally protected and only licensed RN’s may legally use the title of “nurse.” The title “scrub nurse” is actually a misnomer. RN’s go through training to become perioperative nurses that specialize in providing care to patients during the intraoperative period, or for the layperson, while you’re in the OR having surgery. RN’s either circulate, or manage the room and the case or scrub which is to pass instruments to the surgeon and assist him or her with the surgery. I work with ST’s every day and they are are also highly trained and skilled specialists in their field, but by law they are NOT nurses. Thanks for listening 😊
